Bentley Golf Club was the venue for the first of our Charity Golf Days where 76 Golfers gathered to enjoy a course that, considering both the time of year and the almost total lack of rain, was in immaculate condition. The weather threatened initially to be overcast but soon turned into a glorious spring day.
Following coffee and bacon rolls the field went out for a 9 hole Texas Scramble. After lunch everyone embarked on an 18 hole individual and team Stableford competition and the day concluded with a four course evening meal, prize giving and raffle.
The overall winner of the Derek Snashall Trophy was Yasar Sayler of Ilford GC with an excellent score of 42 points playing off a handicap of 9. Nearest the pins went to John Mullen and Derek King at the 8th and 12th holes respectively in the morning whilst John Hayes was successful at the 17th hole in the afternoon.
Thanks to the generosity of Bentley GC, all of the golfers who participated, several additional evening guests and various kind donations the event raised approximately £2,550.
Our congratulations go to the winners on the day together with our sincere thanks to everyone for their support on what proved to be a most enjoyable occasion.
